Why This Site Exists
North Carolina treats many government records as public records under Chapter 132, but jail, prison, court, federal, and immigration records do not live in one database. New Hanover County Sheriff's Office runs the local P2C jail roster for people in county custody. North Carolina Department of Adult Correction maintains a separate offender search for sentenced state prisoners, probationers, parolees, and historical DAC records. Federal and immigration detainees use still other lookup tools.
This site brings those public routes into a single county-focused reference. It is meant to help users distinguish a current county jail record from a state prison record, a court case, a booking photo, or a public-records request.
What Is Included
The New Hanover County pages are built around the local systems that appear in official county, sheriff, court, and state-corrections research.
- Lookup help for jail inmate records, jail roster mugshots, and court records after a jail arrest.
- Facility pages for the New Hanover County Detention Facility and New Hanover Correctional Center.
- Plain-language steps for using the sheriff's P2C Inmate Inquiry and the statewide NC DAC offender locator.
- Records-request context for booking records, public records, court files, and mugshot questions.
What We Cannot Do
New Hanover County Inmate Population is privately operated. It is not part of the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, the New Hanover County Detention Facility, North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, the courts, or any other government agency.
- We cannot release, hold, move, or transfer anyone in custody.
- We cannot post bond, schedule visits, send money, or change an inmate account.
- We cannot give legal advice or speak for a court, prosecutor, or jail.
The official agency, not this site, controls custody, release, bond, visitation, and records decisions.
Search Partners
Some pages may include search tools supplied by outside providers. Those providers set their own prices, terms, and result rules. If a visitor chooses a paid partner service after using one of those tools, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the public reference pages available, but it does not give this site control over partner results, billing, or data practices.
